Earth Day 2022: Learn about Earth day and how Wealers addresses it with its Eco-friendly stainless steel and BPA free products!

Happy Earth Day!
Earth Day was celebrated for the first time in the 1970s as a way to honor the Earth and educate the public about environmental issues. It was established during a time when there were hardly any legal or regulatory mechanisms in place to protect the earth. In the United States, senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day as a way to prioritize environmental issues on the national agenda. His plan worked and he is considered one of the leaders of the modern environmental movement as his actions led to the development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Since 1970, Earth Day celebrations have grown and more than 1 billion people are involved in Earth Day and climate activism1. Every year on April 22nd the world comes together to observe Earth Day and raise awareness about environmental issues and the protection of the earth. Earth Day activities generally focus on global challenges related to global climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and pollution in the ocean. The effects of climate change are vast and widespread, including glaciers retreating, sea ice extent decreasing, polar bears endangered, and rising sea levels. The theme of Earth Day 2022 is to Restore our Earth, which focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can help restore the world’s ecosystems and deliver solutions on climate change.
On this Earth Day, we are pleased to share what Wealers is doing to help protect the earth. We offer a wide variety of stainless steel products for all your camping and outdoor needs. We have also put together a new product category that features our eco-friendly products made from durable stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 201.
Stainless steel is an eco-friendly product that is BPA free. It is considered a healthy and sustainable alternative to plastics, as it is one of the most environmentally efficient raw materials. During production, stainless steel uses primary energy economically, limits the use of non-renewable resources, and minimizes waste. Most stainless steel objects have about 60% recycled content within it2. Stainless steel is also 100% recyclable and is not coated with any toxic material, thus does not produce toxic run-off. That means that not only is stainless steel safe to use but it prevents plastic ocean pollution and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The best part is that realistically, stainless steel items should never enter the waste stream because they are durable, reliable, and can be recycled.
Stainless steel 304 is a combination of chromium, nickel, and carbon. It is one of the most versatile and widely used stainless steel types. What’s great about stainless steel 304 is that there are no chemicals, it is safe, strong, and a durable choice for any cookware, appliances, dishware, cooking utensils, food storage, and more. It has a high heat and corrosion resistance, making it a sustainable and long-term investment.
Stainless steel 201 is another type of stainless steel that is more affordable. It was created in response to the increasing price of nickel, which is a fundamental component of stainless steel 304. It has a lower nickel component and for that reason is not as effective at corrosion. However, it has one of the strongest bandings and is extremely helpful in cold environments, where its toughness is put to the test.
Global climate challenges and the effects of global warming will continue to impact our Earth. It is important to understand that sustainable alternatives, like stainless steel, do exist. It is important to remember that when you are investing in a sustainable and eco-friendly product, such as stainless steel, you are not only investing in the longevity of the product itself but also in planet Earth. Happy Earth Day!
